Get ready to howl!
Did you know, once every lunar cycle, the sun sets and the full moon rises at virtually the same time?
The City of Boise Parks and Rec department and Fort Boise Community Center are teaming up to make this sun-meets-moon event really something special with a sunsetting-moonlighting walk (on the wild side).
It’s a one-hour “moderately strenuous” hike that starts minutes from Downtown Boise in Military Reserve. You’ll reach a vantage point above Boise on Central Ridge Trail to watch the sun set and — within breathtaking minutes — see the full moon rise just as the twinkling lights appear in the city below.
WHAT: Sunset/moonrise hike
WHEN: The hike starts at 8 p.m. Friday, May 8.
Upcoming hikes are planned June 6, July 6, Aug. 5, Sept. 4 and Oct. 4. Times vary.
WHERE: Open to hikers 16 and older. Meet at Fort Boise Community Center, 700 Robbins Road.
COST: $5 for Boise City residents; $7.75 for non-residents.
